Can I get a GPS system for my car that is in English and has Germany maps?

My husband and I are stationed in Germany and we want to get a GPS system, something like Tom Tom, with Germany maps. The ones I have seen on the internet that have maps of Germany are in German. Can I get one that is in English?

My parents have a GPS that allows them to upload maps off the internet. No matter where they go, the map is current and displayed in English.

Garmin makes them. Look on Garmin’s website.

The TomTom GO 920 T has maps of USA, Canada, and Europe.

You can buy a GPS in the US preloaded with maps of the US, Canada and Europe, or buy one with just maps of the US and Canada, then add maps of Europe separately. If you buy upfront, it’s about $100 extra, and if you buy separately, it’s about $250-300.

Or since you are in Europe, it may be cheaper to buy a GPS there and change the language from German to English. I was in Israel and had my rental GPS set up to speak English. The instructions are simple, “Turn left in 200 meters”, “Stay right”, so it’s not tough for even a simple GPS to handle.

If you’re stationed in Germany, I would suggest getting one at the BX/PX. My wife got the Navigon at the Vogelweh Power Zone. It has the entire Europe map on 1 2Gb SD card and the US & Canada on another 2Gb card. She bought it over a year ago and the unit with both map DVDs was under $500.

We’ve used this all over Europe, as we attend dog shows all around the area (Germany, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, etc.) and it’s been VERY accurate everytime. We’ve also taken the unit back to the US, to Mississippi & to Massachusetts and it’s worked perfectly back there.
