Do you have to have verizon fios internet in order to have verizon fios phone service? Is fios voip?

verizon VoIP is voicewing or verizon hub… you do not need FiOS for either service…

the voice service that is provided with FiOS is VoIP… i believe that they use there voicewing service with FiOS…
you would still need a broadband internet connection for any VoIP provider… I would recommend looking at other VoIP providers to compare, as VZ prices are not very competitive in the VoIP market… vonage, or ooma might be a better choice for you…. however, if you have cablemodem service, I would recommend getting digital voice from your cable provider, because they will be able to guarantee QoS of the voice over there network, other VoIP providers can not guarantee QoS of VoIP that travels over the internet…
“FiOS phone service” is not a particular product. For example, you could have Verizon Freedom Essentials phone service before and after a FiOS internet installation. After a FiOS installation the phone service would be transmitted over the FiOS fiber network rather than the older copper network, but there would be no noticeable difference in service.
Verizon Voicewing is a VOIP service unrelated to FIOS. Verizon no longer sells Voicewing service. Regular phone service over FiOS is not technically VOIP.
Verizon is starting to roll out a new VOIP-like service called FiOS Digital Voice. It is currently only available in select areas. I do believe that FiOS internet IS required to order FiOS Digital Voice phone service.
I do not believe Verizon will install FiOS at your home unless you order FiOS internet or FiOS TV. If you were to order FiOS TV and/or internet and then cancel it after it has been installed, your phone service would be provided over the FiOS fiber network from that point on.

no you don’t. I have installed to many customers that have only gotten two of the three services. You can have any one any two or all three. There is no requirement for all three services.
