How to take care of two essential parts of your car

We need them, that is one certain thing about cars in our society. Many people in different places can’t really survive without a car. Yes there are buses but in this very busy life that makes it difficult.  Because cars are so important to our lives it makes sense to know how to care for them.  So we are going to look at two major parts of our car that always need to be maintained.

The first part that is so important to a car is the engine. This is similar to the car’s heart. It will die or stop working if you don’t take good care of this part of your car. So in my San Marcos auto repair service I make sure my customers know how important this part is.  But it is also easy to take care of. If a person were to just do regular tune ups and change the oil they will keep their car in good shape.

The transmission is the next important part of the car. This is critical in being able to drive your car. If your transmission breaks down so does any use of your car.  In my Carlsbad auto repair shop I see so many broken down transmissions. Most of the failures could have been prevented. The main method to do that is to ensure a sufficient supply of essential fluids at all times.  Plus to make sure to change gears gently and always at a complete stop.

As you can see taking care of your engine and transmission isn’t that difficult.  All it takes is a commitment to make sure to care for that part of your car.I tell all of my clients of my shop that performing a bit of maintenance today will save them a lot amount of money in the future. Those who are willing to do that end up having cars lasting a very long time without any problems. Those who don’t end up with cars that is so faulty and problematic in the later times.

Why you need to maintain your car to avoid auto repair

One of the duties every car owner has is having to maintain it’s engine. If you don’t make it a point to maintain your vehicle and neglect it, you will have expensive auto repair costs. If you make it a habit of neglecting it, you are in danger of failing even a smog test. With the consequences of failing a smog check also comes auto repair costs that will be expensive. Or you might face the possibility of not being allowed to drive your car.So we shall take a look at some things you can do to help you avoid having some of these problems happening to you.

First of all as stated earlier in the last paragraph you have to do a good job of maintaing your car.  All my clients of my San Diego auto repair shop I stress to them how important it is to bring their car in regularly. What regular maintenance of your car does, is it allows us to find problems before it is too late. And just like practically all auto repair issues, the earlier you can fix something the less expensive it will be.

Another thing I emphasize as important is the need to have regular oil changes.  Failing to do that is sometimes the root cause of why my clients fail in my San Diego smog check service shop. But if they do consistently this one thing, they will have a car that runs smoother.  Plus a well oiled engine will last longer for their owners.

Finally an often overlooked part of the car are the brakes. This is an overlooked part of the car even thought it is used so much everyday.  Whenever a customer of mine brings in a car to my San Diego brake service it is sometimes one of the most expensive repairs. So I make it a point that they understand what needs to be done to take better care of it.Doing certain simple steps like making sure the fluids are at good levels.

So those are just some simple things you can do to help yourself in avoiding big expensive auto repairs.  Plus they will also help you make sure you pass your next smog test.

Cold weather and auto problems

As we move out of summer into winter things change.Weather is naturally one of them. But did you know the fact that as the weather changes our cars are also affected? It appears that auto problems are more prevalent during the winter season.  If you are in a really harsh weather condition city it can really hurt if your car breaks down. In this article we will look at why the weather hurts your cars.

In my San Marcos auto repair service the biggest cold weather problem are dead batteries.  The main reason is because when it is cold your battery is usually powering a lot more things in your car.  So because of that your battery runs a little harder.  Your headlights are usually running longer with the shorter days. And the heater also takes more energy from the battery as compared to an aircon. So to make sure your car does not enocunter battery problems you must make sure that everytime you go out your battery is in good condition.

Next problem that happens in the cold weather are frozen fuel lines.  This isn’t a big auto problem for my Carlsbad auto repair service.  But this is a headache for car owners in cities with very cold weather. This happens when you let your car run low on fuel and then the condensation starts. And if that condensation freezes it can stop the fuel from flowing. The best way to prevent this from happening is to always fill your gas tank full.

Another big problem is tire pressure.  Cold weather will make tires lose pressure.  This isn’t a good thing because low pressured tires get balder faster.Bald tires can be fatal on icy roads.  So this is a serious problem. Make sure to always check your tire pressure.

So there goes some of the problems encountered by car owners when the weather is cold.Doing the tips mentioned above will lead to prevention of some of those problems. And you do not want to encounter those problems especially during cold season.

How to properly maintain your cars

Taking care of cars is one of the things that people have a problem with.  One of the reasons are cars are made so well. They perform well for a long time that people tend to neglect maintaining them.  But like anything with moving parts you need to maintain it.  If you don’t you risk having more problems in the long run.  So here are a couple of maintenance tips you have to do to keep your car running well.

Obviously, first thing is to have regular tune ups.  When people bring their cars into my San Diego auto repair shop I try to emphasize this to them.Regular tune ups can do a lot of good to your car.Well, for the most obvious reason it can will keep all the parts in good running condition. But it can also detect early signs of problems eith your car.  And as with anything the sooner you get to a problem the easier it is to fix.  With cars you want things easy to fix. Because once it gets hard to fix it gets expensive.

Next thing you should do is to regularly change oils. Not being able to do this will affect the performane of your engine.  An engine that runs bad has many problems.  One of those problems is when it gets older it will fail a smog test. Whenever I have a car fail in my San Diego smog check shop a lot of times I see they never changed their oil regularly. You can also ruin your engine if you do not change oils.

Another thing you must regularly maintain are your brakes.Brakes are one part of the car that can be very expensive to fix.  The solution is to not let it break.  So I have all my clients of my San Diego brake shop make sure they maintain their brakes.

So those are some of the important reminders you must regularly do if you own a car.Regular maintenance will do your car good in the long run.

Ways to maintain older cars

People are seeing to it that their things will last for a long time especially with the kind of economy that we are in right now. Gone are the days when people would just replace old things with new things.Cars are included in that list of items. To make sure tht your cars will last a long time you e have to make sure that you regularly maintain them.Because not doing so will result to them breaking down.So here are some advice on maintaining your car’s life.

First of all one of the biggest mistakes clients of my San Diego auto repair shop do is not change their oil regularly. What people don’t realize is that oil is like the blood of your car.  Without it your car won’t run.And not replenishing its supply will affect the condition of the car.  Over the long run this will remove years from the life of your car.  If you want your car to last longer change your oil often.

Next thing you want to do is make sure you do regular tune ups.Not doing regular tune-ups would result to an engine that does not function well. What happens when you have older cars that don’t run well is failed smog tests.  In my San Diego smog check shop most of the cars that fail were cars that didn’t do regular tune ups.  It is something simple but can have a big impact on the life fo your car.

Last thing would be to take care of your brakes.  In my San Diego brake service business I try to let my clients know how important it is to care for your brakes. This is a part of your car that you do not want to fail especiallyif you are on the road.It can also be very expensive to replace broken brakes.  Keep good amount of brake fluids. And be easy on stepping on your breaks.Prepare yourself to break as far as possible to the next thing in front of you so as to avoid breaking and stepping suddenly on the break pedals.

If you do these things you will surely have a car that will last a long time.

Understanding common car problems

All car owners experience some problems with their cars.It does not matter what brand of car you have.Cars are just machines that will eventually break down. But there are some ways you can prevent or delay this from happening.Or if you can’t avoid them then at least you can lessen some of the problems.

First problem we cantal about is the problem caused by running your car on low oil. This should not really be a problem.  But what people don’t realize is that cars burn oil.Since your car burns oil it will eventually run out of it unless you regularly check and maintain it.  That is one of my biggest pieces of advice for my San Marcos auto repair company.  Make sure to always check your oil.If the level is low already then immediately fill her up.It will enable you to prevent those engine damages caused by running on low oil.

Another common problem that people always bring to my Carlsbad auto repair shop is check engine light problems. It usually about your emmision when your check engine light turns on.But do not get too nervous about this.  It isn’t something that will ruin your car. You will want to consult the vehicle manual to see what it could mean exactly for your car.You may want a mechanic to have a look at it later but do not worry about it too much.

Last problem I would tackle is about clicking noises. This is mostly caused by rocks or debris that got stuck in the tires.  All you have to do is pull over and look at your tires. If you find something stuck in your tires then you can just use some pen or stick to remove it from its place. It is not something that can hurt your car.It will just make you worry especially if you are not well-versed with car problems because it might sound like there is something wrong with your car.And it can also be annoying. But it would not even cause a major problem with your car even in the long run.

So those are some common problems.  Hopefully it will help you not get too excited next time you have one of those problems.
