Choosing Between Laptops and Desktops
When it is necessary, the issue of purchasing a computer is easy to resolve. The electronics market is replete with a wide array of models that all claim interesting features. If one knows enough about what a PC should be, then it should not be hard for him to choose one.
However, there are two types of PCs: laptops and desktops. Making a choice between the two can take time if one is not privy to the unique characteristics of each. The advertising that it gets can just blur the facts necessary for settling with decision. These tend to focus more on how it appears as if it is a fashion item.
The looks, of course, can influence a buyer’s choice but it should be considered as a lesser concern in getting a PC. Otherwise, laptops will surely be everybody’s option. These usually have attractive designs that are lightweight. The more recent models even have appearances that can be mistaken for designer purses.
Fashion, meanwhile, is not a desktop’s usual feature. It can boast, however, of its power, durability, and processing speed. Still, manufacturers have been successful in making slimmer CPUs while LCD monitors have become the usual choice. These means that desktops are also being made to look better wherever it is placed.
By its appearance alone, laptops are definitely tops in terms of being handy. People who are often on the move but cannot leave their work in the office would prefer this. Currently, laptop manufacturer are continuously making their products lighter and thinner to attract more of the types who hate bringing along huge bags.
This advantage, on the other hand, leaves it also vulnerable to theft. Its size, weight, and of course its price in the market makes it a favorite among petty thieves and endangers the valuable information stored in it. Features like voice recognition locks have been installed in several models but this has not discouraged the felons at all.
With its weight and the peripherals attached to it, a desktop is certainly not designed for mobility. However, for power users it is the most recommended. In terms of graphics and audio, it has better capabilities. For graphic designers and gamers, this is the obvious choice. Jobs that require PCs to run for long hours definitely prefer desktops too.
In choosing between a desktop and a laptop, one only has to determine its purpose. If he travels a lot and does some computer work along the way, then a laptop is recommended. For those who use a computer at home or in the office only, a desktop is enough.

Cheap Data Processing Made Easy Through Choosing Of Netbook Computers
One inexpensive option for those shopping for a new computer is to choose one of the many netbook computers now available. The concept of these small computers is not new; however, the technology to bring their prices down has increased their popularity.
There are many items missing from a netbook computer that you would find in a normal laptop or desktop computer. The first thing you will find missing is the CD or DVD rom. Since the drive is missing, programs must be downloaded from online sources rather that from a CD or DVD.
Some of the small computers do not include a traditional hard drive, but depend on a solid state memory device, much like the memory in a USB thumb drive. This type of memory is more resilient than a hard drive and is smaller in size and lighter in weight than the typical hard drive. The one drawback is that you will not find a typical 160 GB hard drive in these small computers but may only find a 32 GB memory.
If more memory is needed, the Netbook can easily be connected to a USB external hard drive. Prices for external hard drives have also dropped recently. A one TB (1000 MB) external hard drive can easily be bought for $100 or less.
You will not find a phone modem capability for most of the smaller computers either, although all of these computers that are now being sold are equipped with WiFi connections. For home use, you will need a wireless router, but in public, the computer can access the web at almost any hot spot.
Originally netbook computers were sold with operating systems other than the current version of windows. For quite some time Windows NT was not offered on these little computers, although it was eventually offered. Now the netbooks are being sold with a netbook version of Windows 7.
Prices on netbook computers began to fall around Christmas of 2008. As prices continue to fall, some will sell for under $175 on Black Friday of 2009.
The small size and weight of these computers makes the easy to carry either in a woman’s handbag or a man’s briefcase.
As more and more applications become web bases, the usefulness of netbook computers, even with their smaller memory continues to grow. Examples of the web based documents include many of the new features of Google, including Google Documents that can be stored online. Documents do not require hard drive space and can be accessed by anyone you give permission to access the files.
With prices dropping and their small size, netbook computers are becoming a popular first computer for children. Younger children appreciate the smaller keyboards that make learning to keyboard easier for them. The online features make it possible for the children to play favorite video games, work online and prepare homework. Teens appreciate the small size that will easily fit into a backpack. Documents can be easily printed through any WiFi equipped computer.
