Is there a home security system that uses broadband rather than VOIP?

We currently have Brink’s security system and pay Comcast for a VOIP line for the security system to use. We don’t use that line for anything else and I feel that it is a waste of money. Is there any types of home security system that works through broadband or wi-fi? Thanks.

What do I need to set my home voip phone? Please give me the details?

I want something inexpensive since I am never home. Therefore, vonage, which costs 20 bucks is not a option. I do want to have a local phone number.

Is there any such thing as successfully sending a text message to a VOIP home phone (not a cell phone)?

I know someone who has a VOIP home phone service and would like to get certain text messages sent to them there and get them via email as opposed to their cell phone. Has anyone ever heard of this idea or if it could be done?

is it possible to use an IP phone given by my employer to plug into my router and use VOIP home telephone?

I cannot get the IP phone to work and am wondering if it has anything to do w/ my home telephone service being VOIP and using an IP address.

Will I need a router simulator/emulator to do labs for CCNA VOIP practice at home?

I do well on my own studying this stuff, and I wonder what I’ll need to do the CCNA VOIP labs.
Thanks!
