Ringback tones – this is the new cellphone customization craze of the 2000’s. If you’re a cellphone user, there is little chance that you haven’t already heard of them. What I’d like to do is give you a couple of ideas about how you can have fun with ringback tones on your cell.

One of the funkiest things that I’ve found for customizing my ringback tone collection is audio clips. These are not just a music clip of a pop hit currently making the rounds on the radio. Outside of the current pop-charts, if you are still more a music person than comedy or audio, there is bound to be an extensive selection you can choose your ringback tones from. Even if your musical taste is eclectic or obscure, the music libraries of cellphone carriers is quite extensive, and is updated regularly to cater to all sorts of different musical tastes.

To get the ringback tones installed on your phone, you need to go through either a call-in interface, or use the carrier’s website to select and purchase the ringback tone you want on your phone. Yes, I did say ‘purchase’, because unfortunately you can’t control your own clips, and therefore you can’t get free ringback tones. The clips are stored on the wireless company’s server, so you must go through their setup program to select and program them for your phone. Regardless of that fact, it’s just one more fun thing that I can do with my cell phone, so I can guarantee that I will continue to set up ringback tones on my cell phone.

In mid November 2009, Time magazine announced its top travel gadgets for the year. Ranking highly in this list was the 32GB iPod Touch. This is possibly not surprising, but what is, is the veritable galaxy of applications that are available for it. And as the below shows, this is not something that looks set to stop anytime soon.

What is also cool, is that whether the application is on or not, users will get updates of any messages, and can select to open the app or not directly.

It retains the ability to synch with a wide selection of chat platforms too, but will mean the creation of an account. This isn’t too much of a problem however, and can be done easily from the iPod touch itself.

Whilst not initially its main purpose in life, the iPod Touch is fast becoming most used as a gaming device. Mindful of this, it is worth taking at look at some of the latest games available.

One such release is The Treasures of Montezuma 2. Available for just two dollars from the App store, it contains greater challenges and more levels for players. With the first game being a popular choice for many casual games players, this looks set to be a winner over coming weeks.

Another game likely to make a big impression is Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. With players taking the role of popular character Scrat, you have to go on a quest to find that all important acorn! A funny and enjoyable spinoff to the film franchise, it really will be a family favorite.

The good news for gamers doesn’t stop there however. Recently announced was the great news that classics such as Silent Hill, Krazy Kart Racing and many more are set to be available at just ninety nine cents. An early Christmas present from the boys and girls at Konami it would appear.

For those wishing to use their iPod Touch as the music player it was initially meant to be; the latest version release of iSample is sure to get a look in. With a host of professional features now included as standard too; this is something that will give hours of entertainment.
