Reverse telephone look up, and a lot of other most recent information services can often be expensive. These kind of costs can, in numerous cases, avert us from utilizing them, and often a great number of us, if not rushed, are just going to wait for the service cost to go down.

Actually if you come to think about it, a lot of people in the early days, declined to subscribe to phones until the fees have fallen, and afterward the similar thing happened with cellular phones when they first arrived. Hence, it is only expected that we have suspicions in regards to reverse telephone look up, a new service that has only lately emerged and is still not very well known to large number of people.

But first lets see what can we do with it, and how can we benefit from it. The primary and for the most part apparent benefit is the ability to locate people, or that peoples address or name only by making use of his or hers phone number, it is the same if it is a cell or a standard number.

On the other hand we can as well utilize search directories to locate the following info: lookup any unpublished, not listed cellular or land line phone number, validate cellular, unpublished and unlisted numbers, use unlisted numbers to looking for individual addresses or names, use an personal address to locate a telephone or name, use personal names to get hold of their cellular or land line phone number and addresses, use a business name to discover their cellular or land line phone and address, lookup toll free phone numbers, employment history, criminal records.

The personal information you dig up may comprise of: personal or company address or name, e mail address, neighboring area information, close business information, type of phone it is, land line or cellular, provider, wide ranging info about town in question.

It is a great deal of info, and how much is it going to cost you and must you in fact consider paying for it?! Unsurprisingly, nearly everyone of us will not need this type of information lookup more then a couple of times per year, so we really should stay away from cashing out for a monthly subscriptions, one time payment will be more then adequate for most of us.

Then, unless you are trying to discover information concerning unlisted phone number, cell or land line, there are many free reverse directories that you can use, simply by browsing the web. Use your preferred search engine and type in something like reverse lookup or reverse directory and right away you are going to be presented with more links then you will ever need.

Generally, all the most useful reverse directories are located on first two pages of search engine results, behind that you can uncover either a couple of real gems or masses of unrelated results. Bear in mind that the Google is one of the largest information collectors in the world, maybe even the biggest, and often you can get lots of info simply by entering a number or a name you possess in Googles search box, and its completely free.

In addition, you can check with your phone provider, once more it does not matter if you use cell or land line phone, and ask if perhaps your provider is offering you, as a their consumer a reverse telephone look up free of charge.

At last for the end, if every one of these approaches fail to provide the answers you want, consider paying for a dedicated reverse telephone look up assistance. Yet again, you can find the finest services on the first two pages of your search engine results.

Have you ever wanted to find where an old friend is living is now? Or have you ever wanted to find out whom your daughter is talking with? Or maybe you just wanted to send a Thank You or Christmas card to a client, and all you have is their phone number? Well, these are all reasons a reverse telephone lookup directory exists.

My first time doing a reverse telephone search certainly was an eye opening experience. Since the telephone number that I was searching was a wireless number I had no luck consulting White Pages or any other online public directory. These directories are solely for the use of landline home and business numbers, which are a matter of public information.

So, after resigning myself to having no luck there I decided to try searching the phone number in the major search engines. I typed the number in Google, MSN, and Yahoo. All three directories came up with nothing in relation to that number. So, the next thing I did was type “reverse cell phone lookup” in the search tool bars of these 3 search engines. To my delight, I saw sites that offered a “free” cell phone search and figured my problem was solved. But after going through 4 of these sites, I found out the search was “free”, but the results were not. Feeling misled, I wasn’t about to trust the validity of their data. So I moved on to my next step.

I searched why I had to pay for information associated with cell phone numbers. What I found is that these numbers are not considered public information. This data is owned by the major wireless carriers like Verizon, Sprint, and Nextel. You can’t access their phone directories, so the only way to retrieve this data is through one of the reputable online sites that resell this data. Fortunately, if you are determined to get the data, the cost is about the same as a pizza and the information you’ll obtain is pretty extensive. You’ll be able to find the owner’s name, billing address, map location of the address, what cell phone carrier the owner uses, and a history of that cell phone number, including previous owners of the number, if any. Also, many times you’ll be able to find out the owner’s age and occupation.

This information is obtained is easily and virtually instantly. Good online sites also offer a money back guarantee and operate customer service departments that are responsive to any questions or problems you may have.

So, next time you find yourself in a position where you need to find out personal information about someone and all you have is a phone number to work with, you’ll know what your options are. Doing a reverse telephone lookup with one of the few reliable and trustworthy online websites is an option increasingly more people are turning to as a great resource in searching cell phone numbers. One of the best and most popular directories is referenced below.

Whenever you are trying to find out who is calling you constantly and you don’t recognize the phone number, you can do a reverse lookup telephone number inquiry online.

Thanks to the advance of broadband and internet technology, you can find a lot of information about any caller that you want. Maybe you are trying to put a stop to a series of prank calls, or maybe you missed an important call and you want to learn whether the last missed call is the one or not. Or maybe, you suspect of a cheating spouse and you are trying to discover who is your spouse talking on the phone behind your back.

You can look up any telephone number online. There are websites that will let you do a search for free. The problem with free sites is that they only include listed land lines and most of the time the information that they include is outdated. Unlisted and cell phone numbers will not be included because these are not considered public records.

There are sites that have the most current and up to date information on any reverse lookup telephone number that you need. These are paid services. The fees are very low but the results are extremely accurate and complete.

Some of the information included in these reports are complete name and address, telephone carrier information, background information and relatives information among other things. When you get a reverse lookup telephone number report you will have to pay a small fee for a one time consultation or you can pay for unlimited searches for a full year.

Doing a reverse telephone number lookup is very much like detective work: you follow the trail until you find out who is the culprit.

Doing a reverse telephone number lookup is very much like detective work: you follow the trail until you find out who is the culprit. In this case, “culprit” is the person who owns that telephone number that keeps calling your number, or that number somebody gave to you the night before (but you only realize there’s no name on it the day after).

It doesn’t matter if it is a telephone number or a cell phone number. Most people think that the detective work can all be done if they just do a free reverse telephone number lookup on unidentified numbers. However, the fact is, you can rarely get a free service of that type, and just like when you’re hiring a private detective, you need to pay. Thankfully, the cost of a reverse telephone number search is much less than the cost of hiring a PI.

So if you’ve been at the receiving of a prank call, reverse lookups are something to go for.

In both cases of landline and cell phone, it’s not that easy to trace a number. The telemarketing companies have it easier – they just choose random names in the directory and make the call (you if you’re unlucky). With a reverse lookup, you need to match a specific number to a specific name – something not very easy to do especially because, in the case of landline directories, the entries are listed by names.

Reverse lookup companies are not at all hard to find. Just search for the words “reverse lookup” and you will find results. In many cases depending on the company, you will be asked to pay a one-time payment for an unlimited number of searches. But the fees shouldn’t make a big hole in your pocket. Average fees are in the range of $39 to 59.

A typical search result would yield in the owner’s name, location, address telephone company. Other companies provide expanded information like the background of the owner and his or her records.

Of course, there are other ways that you can do a reverse lookup. They are free but they would cost more in time and in most cases it becomes a hit or miss situation. One thing you can do is search for the number on search engines like Google, Yahoo or MSN. If the number has been entered into one of the indexed websites, you should be able to find some leads on who has been calling, if not find the matching name to the number during the first search.

Another thing that you can do is to sign up with a free cell phone directories, but the information you’ll find there are those that have been volunteered by the members. To access these websites, you have to register for free and, of course, volunteer your name and cell phone number.

All things being considered, the sheer accuracy of information and the extensive database should tip the balance in favor of paid reverse lookups. The small fee charged to do a reverse lookup is more than worth it.

Chances are, we have all had a few prank calls. Usually kids looking for a little fun. However, sometimes, that innocent (if annoying fun) turns into something more sinister.

Cyber stalking, internet harassment, and harassment via cell phones, including text messages, is becoming more and more prevalent. The problem is that these modern technologies all offer anonymity to the perpetrator, making it easy for them to make your life miserable!

Fortunately, new technology like reverse telephone search services are making it a little easier for us to protect ourselves, but the statistics are nonetheless scary. Research shows that a million men and women are victims of online and telephone stalking. That is eight percent of women, and two percent of men.

How to Stop a Stalker

Cyber stalkers find out every piece of information on you via the internet, and other means. They will continue to harass you, and the harassment will escalate, as long as you allow it to. Take action, including the following:

Minimize the amount of information you put online.

Never include your telephone number, or address.

Make social networking and other sites private, viewable only to friends.

Avoid posting pictures of yourself online.

Make sure your internet security is up to date.

Request that your number be unlisted, and remove it from any directories, online or off.

Use an alternative number when you have no choice but to give out your phone number, whether online or off. Do the same with your email address.

Report prank call or stalking incidents to the police.

If your caller calls from a number that you can check, run a reverse telephone search and identify them immediately.

Keep detailed records of any incidents. This will help if your stalker is prosecuted, or you decide to get a restraining order.

These are just a few of the key points to remember. Of course, if the stalking is via phone, or escalates to include telephone contact, make sure you run a reverse telephone search – that should make it a little easier to identify and take action against your harasser!

Stalking is Serious

While the majority of harassment via phone or internet never reaches life or death proportions, there are incidents where people are injured or even killed by their stalker. Taking this kind of harassment seriously, and contacting the authorities, making physical security provisions, such as carrying pepper spray or taking a self defense calls all help.

Make sure you identify your stalker by running a reverse phone search, and if that does not work, request that authorities put a trace on your phone line.

The bottom line is, we all need to start being more conscious of our security, online and off. Blithely handing out details like addresses and telephone numbers online opens us up to online and offline stalking, and can make our lives very unpleasant indeed! Take an active stand in making sure you do not become the victim of a stalker, and if you do, that you resolve the issue quickly, before it escalates!

Can you find someone with a residential phone number lookup

You might be surprised to learn this but by using the technology available to you today it’s possible for you to search for someone on the Internet. Not only can you search but you stand a very good chance of locating the person too, even when all you have to go on is a telephone number. Finding people by reverse telephone numbers is simple, easy and quick to do.

Are you thinking about an old friend that you used to be close to? You might not have been in touch for years or even decades but you’ve recently started to wonder what happened to them. Wouldn’t it be nice to see your old college friends or a neighbor that you used to see every day or an old boyfriend or girlfriend. You might be looking back because you’ve suddenly found yourself single again and you’re thinking about going after the one that go away all those years ago. You never know – they might be single again too right now.

My daughter can’t imagine a life without cell phones but I think that the really amazing invention in recent years is the Internet. You used to have to spend hours in libraries or trudging around places to find the information you needed. In many cases the things or people that you were looking for remained lost to you because it was just far to difficult or impractical to do the searching. The Internet has changed all of that. Now you have the answer to almost any question you can think of at your fingertips. Now that’s a truly powerful thing to have.

The Internet is still evolving but it’s growing and getting more powerful at an incredible speed. If you can’t find what you’re looking for using the World Wide Web now then you soon will be able to.

Locating people is one of the most exciting developments on the Internet. A few years ago you would have to hire a costly private investigator to do the searches that you are now able to do yourself quite cheaply. You don’t have to worry about anyone finding out either because it’s all confidential. By using the right web sites you can locate people by their name, address, their email address or even a telephone number. The information doesn’t even have to be current in a lot of cases either.

Most of us want to locate a long lost friend sooner or later

It has happened to me and to most of the people I know and it will most likely happen to you. Sooner or later you will want to try and locate a long lost friend. This is good news because that means that there is a huge demand for services that allow you to find people. When there is a huge demand for something someone generally comes up with a solution and that’s why you are now able to find someone quickly, easily and cheaply using Internet based services.

How to locate a person using their telephone number

You don’t need much information about someone to start your search for them. You don’t even need their name in some cases. If you are confused by the numbers on your telephone bill you can very often find out who they belong to by doing a reverse telephone numbers search. If you use a web site that specializes in finding people you’ll find that they gather information from thousands of different sources and organize it for you into an easily searchable database allowing you to search on all kinds of things like email address and telephone numbers.

A method to identify a telephone number can sometimes be an essential service, especially if you are a single woman receiving unwanted telephone calls. Older people may also feel vulnerable to nuisance calls, and would also like a way to identify a telephone number if it keeps appearing on their phone. The main reason is the fear that the caller not only knows your phone number, but knows your address too. You, however, know nothing about the caller.

Why might you need a reverse phone search?

You can take some comfort in the fact that most of these nuisance calls are made at random. Because of their own insecurities, the sort of people who make these calls get a buzz from scaring other people, but don’t want to be known. They also don’t really want to know the person they’re calling, and in fact are often just as scared of being found out. Research has found that prank callers quite often don’t even live in the same state as their victim. However, if you are the victim, you will want to know where the call comes from, so you can take steps to identify the caller. This is where the reverse phone search is useful.

What can you do before you try to identify the telephone number?

Before we look at the reverse phone search, there are a couple of precautions you can take if you’re receiving unwanted phone calls. A good idea if you’re a single woman is to get a male friend or relative to record a message for you. Rather than the caller hearing you saying “Hi, it’s Stacey”, they will hear a guy saying something like “Hi, Kevin and Stacey are out right now”. This will make them think there’s a man living there too, and this will probably put them off.

Another idea is to ignore the telephone. Just tell your friends and family the problem, and let them know that you won’t answer unless you’re sure it’s someone you know. That way, the unknown caller will probably tire of just hearing the ring tone, and stop harassing you.

Using Reverse Phone Search to identify a telephone number

Eventually, if the techniques above don’t work, you will have to pay for a Reverse Phone Number Search. The reason you have to pay is that the complete, accurate data you require is not freely available, and may cost the provider a considerable amount of time and money to assemble, so they’re not going to give it away for free. The good news is that you can choose different subscription options, depending on whether you just want to search for one number, or for many, and some services cost less than $10. A small price to pay for peace of mind.

Every successful private investigator has a tool box. On TV you’ll see a PI using a gun, lock picking tools and disguises. In real life it’s a bit less glamorous but also a whole lot more legal.

In real life an investigator will handle a telephone handset a million times more than he will ever handle a firearm. So in this series of articles we will examine the tools every PI must have in order to conduct successful telephone investigations. Reverse phone number databases, telephone trap lines and blind lines or caller ID spoof cards are all tools every investigator should have.

Reverse Phone Number Databases:
Before you can use the phone you need a phone number. Or you may already have a number but need to know the customer name and address of that number. This is where the telephone number data base comes into effect.

Every investigator should have access to databases that will return a customer name and address (CNA) from a non published or unlisted phone number. These database services will also have information on telephone numbers. They may be able to provide you with an unlisted phone number from a just a name or just an address. They also may be able to supply you with a cellular or wireless number from just a name or address.

Today on the Internet there are literally thousands of companies that offer this service. Some of these companies will only provide the information to lawyers, licensed private investigators , collection agencies or other licensed businesses with a legitimate need for this information. Other companies do not, all they require is a valid credit card. You submit your order and the information is returned via email a few minutes later.

Not all of these services are the same and not all have access to the same information. Some will have up to date information and some will have old outdated data. So do your research and homework first and try to establish a long term working relationship with your information broker.

There are also other ways to obtain reverse phone number information. You can call the number and using a pretext, perhaps in conjunction with a caller ID spoof card, and trick the person that answers into revealing their information. Likewise you might email the target or snail mail the physical address with a pretext and include a trap line number. When the subject calls the trap number their information will be revealed through automatic number identification even if they have caller ID blocked.

Obviously you can use your imagination and apply a reverse phone number search to many routine investigations such as skip tracing, current employment locates and infidelity investigations.
Our next article in this series will examine caller ID spoof cards and their use in routine investigations.

Before hiring a private investigation service be sure to perform your due diligence. Make sure the PI is considered an expert in telephone investigations. Check to see if they offer a variety of telephone investigative services such as reverse phone searches, trap lines, caller Id and even cell phone forensics.
You want to put your investigation into the hands of an expert in every area of telephone investigations.

Be careful of instant online searches that promise the world for a one time low fee. This is impossible. If it seems too good to be true it’s never going to be real. Its going to be a scam.

Have you ever tried to locate a person by telephone number? There are many reasons you could have run into this situation. Maybe you need to find out the address of a business client and all you have is their phone number. Or maybe a strange and unfamiliar number keeps popping up on the missed calls list of your cell phone. Whatever the reason, a reverse telephone directory can help you get to the bottom of things.

When searching for owner information by phone number, it’s important to distinguish between landline and wireless phone numbers. Landline phone numbers are a matter of public record and wireless telephone numbers are not. What this means is that landline numbers can be located by using free means, which include White Pages or any of the online free public directories. This service has been around for a long time and many people have made good use of these directories.

If the telephone number happens to be a cell phone number, your options won’t include the free directories. The reason for this is because major cell phone carriers own and control the data behind these numbers. Only recently have they decided to sell this information to third party broker sites. These are the sites that have now made the owner information available to the public. These sites have to charge a small fee to anyone looking to obtain results to cover their costs and turn a small profit.

Before turning to the paid directories, however, you can try to search the cell phone number in any of the major online search engines like Google or Yahoo. This method works if the phone number has been entered into a website in which this information was requested, such as a social website, online catalogue, or membership site. Most times this personal information is kept confidential, so trying to locate a person by telephone number with this method is hit and miss at best.

If this method falls short and you, you still have the option of one of the few reliable online reverse cell phone directories. These directories get their data directly from the major cell phone carriers and their information is constantly updated. You have the option of doing a preliminary search to find out whether that number exists in their database and in what city and state the number originates from.

From there, you have the option of paying a small one-time fee for the results. Typical results include the owner’s name, billing address, map location of address, cell phone carrier, owner’s status with the carrier, previous owner of the cell phone number and, often times, the owner’s age and occupation. Furthermore, if you plan on doing more than a few searches, you have the option of paying a bit more to perform unlimited searches. Lastly, a reputable site will offer a money back guarantee and operate a customer service department that is available and responsive.
