This technology has made a huge impact on how we talk to others. Do you already use this new form of communication technology? Has your business adopted this means of communication? A VoIP telephone is the new way to talk. You make calls over your internet connection. The VoIP market is predicted to expand rapidly. There are many things to consider when choosing a provider.

This year the market for VoIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol has heated up. With this newer technology, speech is compressed and turned into data which is then transmitted via the internet to the party you wish to speak with, much like mp3 music. Cable companies offer special lines, but usually you will only be able to get them if you have their cable modem service.

If you are considering implementing VOIP into your business for communications, shop around for the best rates. Many carriers will give you a business discount to have you as a new customer.

Telecommunications companies have been developing and making changes to this communication technology since its introduction approximately ten years ago. No matter where you are calling — or how often — there is a service that is right for you. There are VoIP telephone providers that will charge you a one time fee and there are others that charge a monthly fee, but some providers do not charge you anything to use them.

Internet telephony is a category of hardware and software that enables people to use the Internet as the transmission medium for telephone calls.

This technology creates a phone system that eliminates many problems. Virtual Office allows users anywhere in the world to group multiple Packet8 VoIP lines into a virtual business telephone system that includes a host of PBX features.

This form of communication eliminates the need for having separate lines for your Internet connection and dedicated voice transfer lines. If you have a reasonable quality Internet connection you can get your phone service delivered to you through your Internet connection instead of from your local phone company. The low cost in processing this data has meant that there are now growing number service providers who can compete with the large Telcos. Service providers usually offer lower rates than the traditional phone companies, but sometimes don’t offer additional services, such as 911, etc.

If you are not using this new Telephone Technology, than you will be doing business in the stone age. In order for your business to thrive you will need to adopt this form of communication to keep up with your competition.

Imagine driving somewhere new, you’re lost, unsure of where you are at, and the more you try to find your way out the more confused you get. Do you know how safe the area which you’re in is, is it safe to get out of your car to ask for directions or are you risking being attacked? What if you are threatened or attacked, you have your cell phone, dial 9-1-1, but are unable to tell the operator how to find you. Imagine having an accident, or witnessing an accident, but you are unsure where you are, you call 9-1-1 but are unable to tell them where you are. Imagine becoming ill while in your car, you dial 9-1-1, but become unconscious before you can tell someone where you’re at, how will anyone find you? Imagine being on a hike or bike ride when you suddenly realize you do not know where you are, how will you find your way back safely?

The U.S. FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has mandated the E911 (Enhanced 911) which requires that the location of any cell phone used to call 9-1-1 can be determined. This program is divided into two parts; the first requires carriers to report the telephone number of the caller and the location of the antenna that received the call. The second part requires carriers to be able to provide a more precise location. This will require that the manufacturers to install a GPS receiver in all cell phones. The benefit of this not only means that a cell phone can be quickly located, but that cell phones will have the ability to receive driving directions, and to be used as a hand-held GPS out of the car.

There are two ways that a GPS cell phone can be used to get driving directions. The first is to subscribe to a GPS navigation service, which is becoming available but is limited at this time. The second way is through use of a software program. Being able to subscribe to a navigation service has its disadvantages, if you are outside your coverage area your navigation functions won’t work. Plus, not only do you have to purchase a GPS cell phone, you must also pay a set up fee and a monthly fee and be under a 3 month to one year contract.

The second way to get driving directions is to buy a software program, but you need to have a compatible cell phone. The programs and maps are on a memory card and there is no need to pay a monthly fee and since the maps are in the phone you are not dependent on a GPRS connection.

If you want to take your GPS cell phone with you while out of your car, not only are there integrated GPS cell phones, there are GPS add-ons available also.

Another advantage to having a cell phone with GPS technology is that parents know where their children are at any time (as long as they have the phone with them). Some carriers are offering this child location service as a ‘peace of mind’ feature. There is usually a monthly service charge for this service.

The answer to all your MP3 satellite radio woes is here, revolutionizing radio in much the same way as Tivo did for satellite television! With Time Trax, you can now download your favorite XM and Sirius radio shows in high-quality MP3 format directly to your computer.

If you want to burn the MP3 files onto CD-R’s, post them on your website or even load them into your iTunes, it’s up to you! There’s no limit to what you can do with this neat little device.

Sure, you can purchase them directly from Sirius or XM Radio that can capture streaming radio and save it onto your portable player for later listening. For instance, XM’s Samsung Nexus, the Sirius S50 or the Dell DJ MP3 satellite one will store up to 50 hours of time-shifted content and record your favorite shows.

However, the shortcoming is that the contents are only available on that particular device. While you can plug your portable gadget into your car, home stereo or in some cases your computer, you won’t be able to effectively transfer individual songs or hours of broadcast back to your computer.

Time Trax is fantastic news for people who have already invested $400 in an iPod and would rather not purchase a separate device to stream radio. This can also be the perfect solution for that late-night exclusive concert or interview programming.

The software works with most XM and Sirius receivers – notably, XM PCR tuners, XM Direct receivers, as well as the Sirius Sportscaster, Sirius Connect Kenwood, Sirius Connect JVC, Sirius Connect Pioneer and Sirius Connect Alpine receivers. It won’t work with the SkiFi or MiFi satellite radios at the moment, but generally it’s compatible with the most popular models of MP3 satellite radio.

What will you need to get started with Time Trax? First, you’ll obviously need your MP3 satellite radio and a subscription to either Sirius or XM, or simply an online subscription. If you just want to record off the internet and convert it to MP3 format for your iPod, you can choose to download the software for $49.

The other option is for people who want to record from their receivers. These Sirius or XM subscribers can purchase the Time Trax Complete package for $169.99, which includes a small adapter, a receiver, a USB cable, a stereo adapter cable and an AC power adapter.

It’s actually quite simple when you really look at the configuration – the USB cable connects from the Time Trax adapter to your computer and the other included cable connects the Time Trax adapter to your Sirius or XM receiver.

Check out TimeTraxTech website for more information. There has been some speculation about the viability of this innovation over time. MP3 satellite radio sales have diminished slightly from the introduction of Time Trax software.

As a result, XM Radio has taken several steps to shut down Time Trax’s operation, as it interferes with their exclusive Napster contract and some of their product sales (notably the portable satellite radios that compete against iPods). Despite ongoing threats, Time Trax developer Elliott Fruitkin continues to create new technology to help the average user problem solve.

If you’re browsing the internet in search of a satellite radio service for the US and Canada, then you need only check two websites: Sirius and XMRadio. These two giants are your only options and yet you’ll notice striking similarities between the two websites’ design, the product pricing and the programmer’s stations.

Rumors have been flying around that Sirius and XM will form a ground-breaking merger this year, uniting all 14+ million customers under one banner. However, as of right now, you’ll need to know what makes each slightly unique.

Country Music Fans may favor the XM Radio satellite service, which provides listeners with two extra stations – one focusing on Americana Country like Robert Plant or Blackfoot, and the other focusing on Folk Country like Tim Garrison and The Nitty Gritty Band. Both stations have country music from the 80s and 90s, new country, bluegrass and classic country.

Christian Music Fans may favor XM one. This service includes one more Christian music channel than Sirius – in addition to Christian Pop / Rock and Gospel, XM also hosts a Southern Gospel channel with Gold City, Greater Vision and The McKarneys.

Electronic Music Fans will prefer the Sirius service if they’d like a Breakbeat/Old SKool station, in addition to the usual Trance/Progressive stations that both satellite radio services provide. XM has exclusive rights to acclaimed BPM, but Sirius has a special Dance Hits station.

Rock Music Fans will probably prefer Sirius. While XM provides four different “alternative radio” stations, a punk station, a heavy metal station, a jam bands station, a college indie station and three classic rock stations, Sirius gives subscribers roughly 23 stations with everything that XM’s service has — plus New Wave, Glam Metal, Jimmy Buffet, Grateful Dead, Elvis, Canadian rock, UK rock, Garage, 60s Rock, 70s Rock and an additional punk/ska station.

World Music Fans will find that both service providers offering two French stations, but Spanish-speaking subscribers will find XM the better option, since they offer Rock En Espanol, Regional Mexican, Latin Pop, Latin Jazz, Hispanic Rhythmic and Spanish AC. Sirius, on the other hand, has only one Spanish music station for Latin Pop. Additionally, XM has a station for African and a business station in Italian.

Rap and Hip Hop Fans may prefer XM because their service focuses on more Soul and Funk, along with uncensored Hip Hop and Urban Contemporary — unless they’re big Slim Shady fans, in which case they may need Sirius Radio’s Eminem station.

In some ways, XM Radio caters to the aging population with Good Morning America, Casey Casem’s Top 40 Countdown, Theme Time with Bob Dylan and Wolfman Jack. On the other hand, Sirius Radio goes after the 20-somethings crowd with Bam Marguera, Howard Stern, Jamie Foxx and Tony Hawk shows. However, both satellite radio service providers are likely to give you something you can enjoy.

Sports Fans will find many similarities in XM and Sirius service options. For instance, both providers have ESPN, Nascar and NHL exclusives, as well as both college and NFL football. XM gives better golf / PGA Tour coverage and Fox Sports, while Sirius gives better NBA coverage. On XM, catch shows with Jimmy Johnson, Dale Jr, Coach K, James Carville, Luke Russert and Cal Ripkin.

With the Delphi SkiFi2 radio, you can get a sports ticker to show game scores on your display screen and the SportsCaster comes with 30 sports presets programmed in. However, Sirius gives you game alerts, 30 presets and lists all your favorite teams in one category with the Sportster and Streamer satellite radios. Additionally, get exclusive programming with Jerry Rice, Daryl Johnston, Randy Cross, Adam Schein, Shannon Sharpe, Ray Evernham, Tony Stewart, Rick Ackerman and Frank Isola.

Whichever satellite radio service you prefer, you’ll be surprised to find that both are competitively priced at $13/month and most of the radio components cost from $20 – $200. However, which ever service you choose for now, you will still need to purchase a satellite radio receiver and luckily, most of the satellite radios will work in your home and in your car.

The world of communications is opening up to consumers around the globe and the reason for that is Voice over Internet Protocol, otherwise known as VoIP.

Using VoIP phone service is simple and in many cases more convenient for customers than using a traditional land line to land line connection. In fact, most consumers are delighted to find out that no land line is needed for making VoIP calls. All that is needed is an Internet connection. In remote locations where phone service is either non-existent or unreliable; Internet connections via satellite have opened up a whole new world of voice communications.

In the past few years, VoIP providers have grown in numbers offering more competitive services and rates to consumers. In some cases VoIP to VoIP calls are free to customers the world over and this is especially true in places that have currently low traffic on their VoIP lines and in other cases, there may be a small charge incurred by the VoIP user for calling a land line or Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

There are two main types of land line to VoIP services. The first is by direct dialing where the land line user calls a number the connects directly to the VoIP user. The other type is using an access number where a local number is dialed and an extension number that has been assigned to the VoIP user is dialed, thereby connecting the call.

VoIP has opened up communications and the ability for smaller countries to compete in the global market by having access to both contacting clients and customers all over the world via VoIP services. This levels the playing field and allows companies to offer direct one-on-one customer service to anyone that needs to speak to a representative about a product or service or someone that needs help with a purchase they have made, even if that customer is half a world away. The zero to low VoIP rates on most calls make this a very economical form of business communication as well as for personal use for families that are scattered around the globe to keep in touch.

Mobile phones are also being seamlessly integrated into VoIP communications. Phones with WiFi are VoIP capable and this allows cell phone uses to also take advantage of the affordable VoIP rates for calling around the world, however pay close attention to your own cell phone. company’s charges for Internet access when using WiFi. This is often a very economical way for International travelers to keep in touch with their company or family when on the road.

Fees for VoIP can vary from country to country. Many VoIP services are offering flat rates for in-country dialing and some countries offer free VoIP to VoIP calling no matter where the calls are made. It’s worth it to look around and see what is available so you get the best VoIP service rate.

The demand for VoIP is continuing to grow and as the technology develops, more and more consumers around the world will continue to benefit from this state of the art form of communication that makes it easier than ever for both businesses and individuals to just stay in touch.
The new age telephones have taken the world by storm. Now a days almost every office and every home has telephones that look quite groovy. At the same time, these phones are also loaded with new and modern features. It is due to these features, the modern day telephones are much more than mere devices for making and attending phone calls.

Now there are two important aspects that sets the modern day phones apart from their old counterparts. They are designs and features.

The Designs

The modern day phones are quite nifty in look and appeal. They can very well help you define your style statement.Telephones today are available in a wide variety of colours. Now you have the opportunity to choose a colour that best goes with the interior decoration of your home. Then there are also the phones with steel finish. They are available in colours like silver and black and have a shine that gives them a smart look.

The Features

Not just the looks, the telephone has constantly evolved with the features it offers. At first we had those devices which could only perform two functions which are dialling and receiving calls. Later we had devices that offered the facility of redialling and speaker phone. With constant evolution the telephone came added with more and more facilities. And now today, we have phones which have facilities that once we couldn’t even dream about. Some of those features are: LCD Screen, integrated keypad, mute button, channel changer, recall, phone book and much more.

How to Order

With time, even our purchasing methods have also changed. Now for purchasing telephones you do not have to take time out of your busy schedule and go to the phone stores. You can simply connect to the World Wide Web and order your device through internet. You can browse through the web stores and check out the different models available and the features they possess. Having made your choice, simply add to cart and fulfil the remaining transactions and be the owner of a brand new telephone.

A VoIP phone can be defined as an entity that is used to make telephone calls over the internet. A VoIP phone utilises the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology wherein our voice is converted into digital signal that is transmitted over the Internet. VoIP phones enable you to enjoy the benefits of VoIP technology.

The VoIP technology is based on protocols, such as SIP, H.323 or proprietary ones like Skype.

How is voice transmitted using the VoIP technology?

VoIP phone—>broadband router—> Internet—> voip service provider

Well, if you do not wish to spend on purchasing a new VoIP phone, just connect your existing analogue telephone to a VoIP phone adaptor and enjoy the benefits of VoIP. There are many VoIP service providers who allow you to use the service on your analogue telephones. With the VoIP phone adaptor, you do not need a VoIP phone or a computer to avail the VoIP service. The analogue telephone connects to the broadband router through the adaptor. The router connects to the Internet.

standard analogue telephone—>voip adaptor—>broadband router—> Internet—> voip service provider

The UK phone users may need an RJ11 adaptor to convert their standard BT Connector to an International Connector. RJ11 adaptor may be bought with a VoIP Phone Adaptor.

Broadband routers have built-in VoIP and can also be used as VoIP Phone Adaptors. You can buy these routers online.

What are the things required to avail the benefits of VoIP service?

VoIP hardware:

voip phones

can be plugged it straight into a network or a broadband router
voip adaptors

A Look At The Technology Behind Satellite Radio

Any song that you hear on your satellite radio is a recording or replay and will be transmitted to you again and again. The recording has to be at a minimum so that you will be able to put it on CDs and tapes. The music is that of an MP3 except it is broadcasted over a satellite radio. The person who is putting together the music on the broadcast usually just puts together a list of 20 to 30 minutes worth of music and then just lets it play.

Encoding will be one of the key things in satellite digital broadcasting. Every channel is handled by a different person who chooses the music to play. Whoever is playing the music will take the analog and put it to digital use. The process that the high powered computers do is way more powerful then any other regular computer today because they have to break down sound waves and maybe re makes them. After they have broken them down they will be put on CDs after the song is remade or whatever happens during the encoding process it will be broadcasted over your normal satellite radio. That is what happens when you push your button to turn on your satellite radio and are going to be listening to your satellite radio receiver. Above the earth in space is where the satellites send down the transmissions broadcasted on the satellite radios.

The satellites are located up there and they will send down the broadcasts that are made. All they do is broadcast the music to the players and tuners so that people can listen to all the music that they need and want. Each satellite is 23,000 feet up and broadcasts signals everyday to the tuners and radio players. The satellites are geo synched which means that they always hover over the place where they are going to be broadcasting. Even if it means just staying in the same place forever that’s what they are going to be doing. They will just stay there unless they are moved to another area and then another satellite just fills its spot and then you are going to have more music again. I don’t think that a satellite is just going to move during a song but if it does it will just be replaced by another outlaying satellite.

So if you need a satellite radio or were thinking about getting one you should go to best buy or circuit city and get one even though they may seem kind of expensive they are well worth every penny when you are wanting to listen to something that you cannot listen to on the regular radio. They are probably around the 50 to 100 dollar range at any electronics store around where you may live. The better ones are around the $100 to $300 range and are going to be like that because they offer a better subscription or service.

VoIP in Texas is becoming a growing trend in the recent years. Since 2004 the trend has skyrocketed not only among Texas VoIP subscribers but all around the country. Texas has and will remain to be a trend setter for the rest of the country since it is such a large state and very populated.

VoIP stands for Voice over Internet protocol. VoIP allows users to have normal phone access through an internet service provider but still use regular phone networks. Which helps users avoid unnecessary long distance charges? For companies the use of VoIP is more practical than regular phones because it allows the companies to cut major costs on their phone bills.

Several Texas VoIP users, especially larger companies, can gain a good advantage from the extras VoIP’s have to offer. Since almost every company uses multiple lines and VoIP’s in Texas can have more than one call going over the same connection at the same time it makes it simple for adding those multiple lines.

There are several other features that companies can enjoy from VoIP providers such as conference calling, caller ID, call forwarding, and automatic redial. Normal telephone companies charge a decent amount for each of these features where VoIP subscribers pay very little to nothing for them. Also since VoIP’s are already digital it makes for getting a secure line much easier as all they have to do is encrypt the already provided data stream.

Several other technology advancements are also coming into the market for Texas VoIP users. Since the VoIP phones are on the same data level as computers it opens up new possibilities for upcoming features such as call routing.

As with any technology though VoIP does have a couple of downfalls especially for VoIP in Texas. Since Texas has many hurricane issues the biggest problem with VoIP is that it runs off of modems. Which in turn run off regular power so in the case of Texas VoIP users if a hurricane causes the power to go out they won’t be able to use their phones?

Since normal phones don’t rely on traditional electric they are still preferred in some instances over the new technology. The other downfall is not as big but its still causes problems for some users. The fact that VoIP is hardly mobile makes some users skeptical to switch to it. However, with emerging technologies such as Wi-Fi and WiMax it’s predicted that those new technologies will allow VoIP’s to be more mobile, universal, and more widely accepted.

Some Texas VoIP subscribers that are larger companies struggle with the problem of highly congested networks. Since VoIP is so easy to add lines to and expand the network it opens up the problem of momentary voice drop out and lower voice quality due to lost or delayed data packets. As technology advances though this problem will continue to diminish.

Although there are still some bugs to work out for VoIP’s in Texas, the convenience and cost effectiveness of the technology out weighs the downside for most Texas VoIP users.

Ray Clark is the co-founder of Lan-Comm Technologies a San Antonio, Texas based voice, data, wireless, video, computer, networking and security technology company. Rated as one of the top Texas VOIP vendors based on their great service, experience and inexpensive prices.
