Telephones can be termed as one of the greatest gifts of modern technology. Its effectiveness cannot be undermined. It has indeed brought about a revolution in the way communication was carried out. Imagine the day when telephones were not invented. Imagine the difficulty that one used to undergo before a piece of information can be delivered.

It has not been long when people relied on letters to share their feelings or send a piece of information. And it was days before one actually received the letters. In many cases, letters were received after the event had taken place. Needless to say that it lead to frustration and anger of not receiving the information on time.

It was this anger that fueled the need of inventing a device which would facilitate communication, and make people living at distant places communicate as if they are sitting with each other across the table. These thoughts were worked upon and telephones invented, which fitted the bill perfectly.

It completely transformed the way communication was carried on. The days when one piece of information took days to reach its destination became history. Now people can chat as if they were face to face with each other – needless to say that it became an immediate hit. People were simply overjoyed of being able to talk to their friends and relatives who were hundreds of miles away.

The initial spate of success gave way to further improved versions of telephones. Telephones with every transformation became more useful and fashionable, to the extent that today a time has come when phones can actually be carried in the pockets. Not only this, phones today are not limited to making or receiving calls alone, instead they have now wide range of features programmed into them, which really has transformed it into a multi-utility phenomenon.

Imagine a world without any telephones, mobile phones or any kind of phones. Tough? You bet it is. With ages of regular usage of telephones, now we possibly can not function without this device. Just imagine, how will you tell your friends that you wish to fix up an appointment with them. How will you update your boss or colleagues with the latest in professional front? How will you know if your near and dear ones living in a different corner of the world are doing well? And how will you enjoy a good night’s sleep without hearing your sweetheart’s love filled voice?

Yes, over the years, our repeated and regular usage of telephones has led to the situation that now telephones are connected to every aspect of our life. Whether it is personal use or for professional purposes, for social interaction or for updating information, we have, more often than not, taken the help of telephones. And now we are so used to this device, that even if one day we have any kind of problem with the device or the connection, we want it to get fixed as soon as possible.

With more and more technological advancement every day, we are now much ahead of thinking about the telephones. Our focus has shifted and it is furthered on things much ahead. But still telephone dominates a considerable part of life. In homes and offices, in regular uses, we still find phones enjoying special importance. Even telephones have evolved over time. Now the boring Plain Jane phones are increasingly replaced with stylish and cool devices that are much more than just phones. Plus the modern day telephones also look great with steel finish and cute shapes.

In other words, the phone has evolved yet it remains as important in our life as it was since time immemorial.
