i have a dsl line for internet but would like to use my computer to answer regular land line phone system , i do not want to go with a voip phone . just want to use my computer and modem like a regular phone . is there a way to do this?

A few friends have suggested me to invest in this business, they says all I have to do is to buy some equipments and highpeed internet and a computer to check traffic and calls made. every week some related company will pay me depending on how much calls has been made. But before investing so much I want to know how it works and what kinds of equipments I need.
