What kind of cable should I use to run telephone and internet 700 feet?
I am trying to run telephone and HiSpeed Internet to a location about 700feet away from my house. (It is another building) And no I do not want to get service there.
Thanks
I know I need cables but the question is what type. Because certain kind only go so far.
a cable
only way you are going to get Hi speed internet 700 feet is to either run fiber optic cable or use a point to point wireless system. Neither option is cheap. You can’t run cat5 or cat6 over 300 feet without having packet loss issues, you can try it but I gurantee you will not get the results you are hoping for. Now if you are on cable with your broadband and phone then you may be able to run some RG6 and put a signal amplifier at the opposite end and hope it works.
If the telephone service you want to extend is a plain old POTS line (regular analog phone line) then you can just run some CAT3 or even CAT5 cable without an issue, trying to transfer data over 300 feet is when you run into issues with cable lengths, Analog phone will work fine you may want to consider running something a little bigger than the standard 22 gauge phone wire if you think you may have some drop in voltage 18 gauge 2 conductor would work fine.
